Adidas Open To Billion-Dollar Extension With German Football Federation

German Football Federation (DFB) sponsor and supplier adidas "is reportedly willing to extend its longtime partnership with the DFB in a billion-dollar deal," according to the DPA. German newspaper Bild reported adidas is open to extending the contract with the DFB, which is set to expire in '18, for a further 10 years at an annual cost of around €100M ($112M). Adidas spokesperson Oliver Brüggen said, "Our existing contract with the DFB runs until the end of 2018. Therefore it is too early to speculate about a continuation." There have been rumors that the DFB would switch from adidas to its biggest rival Nike. DFB President Wolfgang Niersbach: "Nike certainly has a chance. However, other brands might be interested as well." The partnership between adidas and the DFB dates back to '54. Adidas currently pays an estimated €25M ($28M) annually to the DFB (DPA, 9/8).

ADIDAS EXTENDS WITH LA ROJA: AS reported adidas and the Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) announced an extension of their sponsorship agreement through ’26. Adidas CEO Herbert Hainer said, “We are very proud and excited to announce the extension of our successful sponsorship of the Spanish Football Federation.” The connection between RFEF and adidas dates back more than 35 years (AS, 9/8).
