DAVID BECKHAM forked out £10,000 ($15,300) on an Arsenal shirt "for his son ROMEO's birthday ... and it was signed by himself." Beckham attended the 20th Anniversary HMV Football Extravaganza at London's Grosvenor House Hotel on Tuesday and was honored with the Legend of Football Award. The event raised funds for music therapy charity Nordoff Robbins (London DAILY MAIL, 9/2). ... Former Scottish Championship side Rangers CEO CHARLES GREEN has appeared in court "over the alleged fraudulent purchase of the Ibrox club" in '12. Green, 62, appeared in private at Glasgow Sheriff Court on Wednesday afternoon. He "made no plea or declaration and was released on bail." Green faced a "scrum of waiting media and Rangers fans as he exited the court closely surrounded by a police escort to a waiting car" (STV, 9/2).

MOODY OFFERS A ROOM: Rugby player LEWIS MOODY has "placed his own home on Airbnb during the World Cup, as he invites fans to join him for garden games" and "compulsory singing" of the National Anthem. Moody has "opened up his four bedroom Wiltshire home for charity, while he is away for the tournament." The Airbnb advert promises full use of the "beautiful and spacious family home" as well as a personal offer from Moody to "give my guests a few rugby pointers." Proceeds from the week, based on £150 ($230) per night, will go to the Lewis Moody Foundation in support of the Brain Tumour Charity (London TELEGRAPH, 9/2).
