BT Furious After Sky Uses Perimeter Ads To Falsely Claim Chelsea-Arsenal Match

The Premier League season is less than a month old but already BT Sport is "protesting about the dirty tricks" of arch-rival Sky, according to Charles Sale of the London DAILY MAIL. The Chelsea vs. Arsenal match on Sept. 19 "is one of BT’s marquee live games this month" but fellow pay-TV network Sky advertised it as part of its portfolio. Sky used perimeter advertising during its opening-weekend Championship coverage of Brighton vs. Nottingham Forest "to promote the London derby as an upcoming attraction." BT Sport, which took screen grabs of the false advertising, is understood "to be complaining at the highest level to Sky and the Premier League." A Sky spokesperson said, "It was a mistake that was quickly rectified and the Premier League are comfortable with our explanation" (DAILY MAIL, 9/1).
