Global Press Mocks Failed Transfer Of ManU's David De Gea to Real Madrid

The bulk of European sports outlets believed that ManU goalkeeper David De Gea's move to Real Madrid "was a formality" and were taken by surprise when the news emerged that the paperwork "failed to arrive" at the Spanish Football League (LFP) on time, according to AS. Int'l publications on Tuesday cited "the failure for the move to go through" as an "embarrassment" and a "farce." In Spain, Marca's headline said, "Ridiculous: A smack in the face." Reactions from other notable newspapers in Spain and the U.K. are below:

Mundo Deportivo: "Madrid left without De Gea."
El Mundo: "Bureaucracy frustrates the De Gea move."
The London Guardian: "De Gea left in limbo. Madrid accuse United of submitting the documentation late. The deal flounders in turmoil."
The London Daily Mirror: "Real cock-up."
The BBC: "De Gea collapse. Real Madrid and Manchester United blame each other" (AS, 9/1).
