Football Notes: Liga MX Club Chiapas Pays Off Debt To Players

Liga MX side Chiapas "finally paid the debt it had with some players." The news was announced by Liga MX's Player's Commission, which said in a statement, "Finally the debt that the club had with some players and coaches was liquidated. We thank the Liga MX authorities for their support. The Player's Commission continues working and protecting the rights of Professional Footballers" (LA AFICIÓN, 8/29). ... A father and son charged in the FIFA corruption case "won release from house arrest in Argentina Friday after a judge there sought more time to consider the U.S. government's extradition request." Hugo and Mariano Jinkis, whose company, Full Play, traded in marketing rights for int'l football competitions, "turned themselves in to Argentine authorities on June 18." Argentine judge Claudio Bonadio wrote, "Taking into account the satisfactory way Hugo and Mariano Jinkis have been fulfilling the house arrest conditions imposed on them, it is feasible to reconsider how they wait out this process" (N.Y.
