Marketplace Roundup: VfL Bochum Partners With U.S.-Based Athletes USA

Second Bundesliga side VfL Bochum "has reached a deal with U.S.-based agency Athletes USA." The agency, which has contacts with more than 3,000 U.S. colleges and universities, "will help the club's youth players to get a sports scholarship at a U.S. institution" (SPONSORs, 8/25). ... Infront Sports & Media announced that the European Handball Federation secured an official sponsorship agreement with Grundfos. It covers both the Men’s and Women’s EHF EUROs 2016, taking place Jan. 15-31 in Poland and Dec. 4-18 in Sweden, respectively. The rights package for Grundfos includes brand positioning in camera view around the court, through advertising spots at both events on LED boards, floor stickers and static boards behind the goal (Infront). ... National Rugby League side Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs partnered with Jaycar Electronics, extending its tenure as major club partner until the end of '16. Jaycar Founder Gary Johnston said, "Last year the Bulldogs were the most watched sporting franchise on free to air television in Australia and millions of people now know the Jaycar name as a result" (Bulldogs). ... Qualcomm Technologies announced the launch of the new official Qualcomm Safety Car for season two of the FIA's Formula E Championship. The new official Qualcomm Safety Car is the BMW i8 and will be charged wirelessly with an advanced Qualcomm Halo 7.2kW wireless charging system (Qualcomm). ... Scottish Premiership side Ross County "sealed a long-term ticketing partnership with tickets.com." The deal "will see the club use the ticketing provider and marketing solutions company’s ProVenue system, which will provide a platform to serve fans’ ticketing requirements for home and away games, as well as for travel" (SOCCEREX, 8/25).
