Reading Co-Chair Sasima Admits Madejski Stadium Naming Rights Deal Is An Option

League Championship side Reading co-Owner Khunying Sasima Srivikorn admitted that Reading "could soon look to sell the naming rights to Madejski Stadium," according to Charles Watts of GET READING. It "has long been expected that the club’s Thai consortium would look to cash in by securing a money spinning sponsorship deal to change the name of the ground." But during the summer Royals’ majority shareholder Narin Niruttinanon said that "he and his fellow board members would not be rushed into making a decision out of respect" for Reading Chair John Madejski. He said, "It’s a sensitive issue. This is not something which we can just walk in and say, because somebody offered to pay us this much money we want to change the name." But Sasima, who has also spoken about plans to build a new conference center on the Madejski Stadium car park, "has now admitted that a possible naming rights deal for the ground is a real possibility" (GET READING, 8/23).
