Bundesliga Pokes Fun At Itself In Online Mini-Series 'The Bundesliga Promo Team'

As Germany's Bundesliga continues to increase its global reach it is not afraid to poke a little fun at itself. Ahead of the start of its 53rd season on Friday, the German Football League (DFL) released a mini-series called "The Bundesliga Promo Team." The series shows a fictional N.Y.-based ad agency tasked with developing a promotional campaign for the Bundesliga. A team led by an "eccentric boss" has to come up with the right slogan and idea to promote Germany's top professional football league. Two of the four episodes have already been released. The remaining two episodes will be unveiled on Monday and Aug. 24, respectively. The reason behind the series is the Bundesliga's extensive global coverage as it will be live broadcast in 208 countries this season. Its deal with 21st Century Fox alone covers 80 countries and territories, including the U.S. The mini-series was created by Markenfilm.

  • Episode 1: "Need for Feet"

  • Episode 2: "Cheerleaders"
