Promoted La Liga Club UD Las Palmas Expecting Lucrative Season In Top Flight

La Liga side UD Las Palmas President Miguel Ángel Ramírez said that the club hopes to make about €33M ($36.7M) this season in its return to Spain's top division, according to the EFE. He expects half of this sum to come from TV rights (€16M) ($17.8M), and the rest to come from memberships (€7M) ($7.79M), advertising (€6M) ($6.68M) and ticket sales (€4M) ($4.45M). He recognized that "although the revenue the club is budgeting will increase significantly with the jump in category, so will the spending." He pointed out as an example that the club will have to pay players €2.5M ($2.78M) as a bonus for securing promotion, and that the cost of signing players "will double or triple" in La Liga. The club "also has agreements with its creditors that increase the required payments now that is in La Liga." Ramírez also defended the prices the club is charging for season tickets, and confirmed that close to 19,500 have been sold, a club record (EFE, 8/12).
