The World Anti-Doping Agency enlisted Europe's "most advanced sports laboratory to develop a tailor-made test" for the banned peptide at the center of the Australian Football League side Essendon drugs scandal. WADA's decision "reflects the determination of anti-doping authorities to secure a conviction in the protracted and, at times, politically charged case." It means the fate of 34 current and former Essendon players "could turn on complex and unprecedented scientific evidence" (THE AUSTRALIAN, 8/12). ... The Bombay High Court will on Wednesday hear a plea filed by Mumbai cricketer Hiken Shah, who has "challenged his recent suspension" by the Board of Control for Cricket in India. A bench of Justices V.M. Kanade and B.P. Colabawalla had last Monday "sought a reply from the BCCI to his petition." Shah has challenged his suspension which the Board said was due to him "allegedly flouting its anti-corruption code" (TIMES OF INDIA, 8/11).
