Chelsea's Plans For Redevelopment Of 60,000-Seat Stamford Bridge Revealed

Newly-released plans have revealed that Chelsea "will be able to more than double" its offering of corporate tickets at a revamped Stamford Bridge, "while away fans will see their allocation cut," according to David Kent of the London DAILY MAIL. The defending Premier League champions hope to start work toward a 60,000-seat Stamford Bridge "within nine months" and strategic planners AECOM submitted more details of their plans to the local council "as their next step forward following a consultation with fans and residents." The 120-page scoping report includes notes "on everything from how they plan to allocate seats at their revamped home, to consideration of solutions for newts and other local wildlife" that could be living in the area during the four years of work that will be required. AECOM said it hopes work would begin on the project in May before leaving Stamford Bridge for an "as-yet undecided temporary venue -- with Wembley Stadium the frontrunner -- for the final three years of the overhaul." There will be just 715 more regular season tickets available. Chelsea's new stadium plans include a mention of a "club area (bronze)" of 6,089 seats that "could see them introduce a tier of pricing cheaper than regular corporate tickets but well above normal pricing" (DAILY MAIL, 8/11).
