The role "will involve repairing some of the damage caused during Sepp Blatter's presidency, with FIFA currently being investigated over corruption charges." SFA CEO Stewart Regan said that it "will support the Frenchman in his bid for power at the forthcoming presidential election." He said, “From the perspective of the smaller countries, he has opened up the channels of communication and ensured that every country, irrespective of size, has a voice. The Jordanian prince, a former FIFA VP, "remains a fierce opponent" of Platini’s FIFA candidacy. But he "is still sounding out football leaders before deciding whether to launch a new bid."
