Barclays Backs Campaign To Cap Premier League Away Tickets At $31

Liverpool football fans "bidding to cut the price of tickets to away matches" to £20 ($31) each "have won the support of Premier League sponsor Barclays," according to Mark Johnson of the LIVERPOOL ECHO. Supporters groups The Spirit Of Shankly and Blue Union said that "the cost of paying for away tickets has become 'unaffordable' for many die-hard fans" -- and have welcomed Barclays support. The Twenty’s Plenty campaign "was started by the Football Supporters Federation (FSF) in 2013 to call upon clubs at all levels" to agree on a across the board price cap on away match tickets of £20, and £15 ($23) for concessions. Barlays contacted Spirit Of Shankly and Blue Union and met representatives in London and in the Casa in Liverpool. Barclays Head of Global Sponsorships Nathan Homer: "These issues are important and need to be addressed and we have promised to support discussions within football so that actions can take place" (LIVERPOOL ECHO, 8/8).
