Spanish second division side Elche named RAMÓN PLANES its new sporting director for the upcoming season. He arrives at the club following stints with La Liga side Espanyol and EPL side Tottenham. He replaces JAVIER CABELLO (EFE, 8/4). ... AS Monaco confirmed LUIS CAMPOS "stepped down as the club's technical director, but the man credited with helping rebuild the side will remain in the principality." Campos handed in his resignation, "reportedly unhappy with interference in his sphere of activity within the club," notably the reinstatement of goalkeeping coach ANDRE AMITRANO after Campos had told him his contract would not be renewed (ESPN, 8/5).

COACHES/MANAGERS: The Saudi Arabian Football Federation appointed Argentinian ALEJANDRO SABELLA "head coach of its national team for the next three years." Sabella, the former head coach of the Argentina team, "was chosen from a list" which included his compatriot MARCELO BIELSA and the Belgian MICHEL PREUD'HOMME (AL ARABIYA, 8/4). ... Serbian coach LJUPKO PETROVIC "parted company with Litex Lovech after spending just three weeks in charge of the Bulgarian league leaders." The Lovech-based side cited "family reasons" as being behind the premature departure of the European Cup-winning coach's third spell at the club (REUTERS, 8/5).
