Media Notes: German Free-TV Channel Sport1 Renews Champions Hockey League Rights

German free-to-air TV channel Sport1 has renewed its broadcast rights deal with the Champions Hockey League. Sport1 will show a minimum of 10 games during the second season of the competition. The deal was brokered by Munich-based agency sportsman Media Group, a partner of Infront Sports & Media (QUOTENMETER, 7/23). ... Fox Sports Australia acquired exclusive rights to the 35th America's Cup. The event began with Louis Vuitton America's Cup World Series racing in Portsmouth, England on Saturday and Sunday, with Fox Sports providing coverage of the opening race live on Saturday and continuing on Monday with extensive highlights (BYM NEWS, 7/24). ... Spanish newspaper As on Friday launched a new section, As México, led by Alejandro Gómez, a journalist with 25 years' experience. This follows the creation of As Chile in '14 and As Colombia in '15 (As).
