Under Armour Opens Office In Germany, Unveils Partnership Deals

Under Armour announced "several partnership link ups during the opening of its office in Germany on Thursday," according to Matthias Kettenburg of SPONSORs. Under Armour will become the official kit supplier of 2nd Bundesliga side FC St. Pauli starting with the '16-17 season. The U.S. company will replace Hummel and pay more than €1M ($1.1M) annually for the deal which runs until the end of the '20-21 campaign. It is expected that Under Armour will soon announce additional partnerships in Germany. Adidas recently announced that it will not renew its deals with Bayer Leverkusen and FC Nuremberg at the end of the '15-16 season. In addition to those two clubs, Under Armour is reportedly in talks with Borussia Mönchengladbach and Schalke, whose contracts with Kappa and adidas, respectively, expire in '18. At the event in Munich, the company also announced that it has extended its deal with the Austrian Ski Federation (ÖSV) until May 31, 2017. Under Armour has been a partner of the ÖSV since '11 (SPONSORs, 7/24).
