Sunday's racing at the America's Cup World Series event in Portsmouth "has been cancelled because of bad weather." Forecast winds over 30mph "forced the regatta director to first delay the start and then abandon the two races." It means Britain's Ben Ainslie and his Land Rover BAR Racing team "secured the overall victory across the weekend" (BBC, 7/26). ... The Reignwood Pine Valley LPGA Classic "will not be played this year, leaving China with one tour event this season." The LPGA Tour said that "the decision to call off the Beijing event scheduled for Oct. 1-4 doesn't impact the long-term future of the tournament." The tour said that an extension is now being finalized to play the event in '16 and '17 (AP, 7/23).
