Media Notes: Gazzetta TV Secures Italian Broadcast Rights To League Championship

Gazzetta TV has secured the broadcast rights in Italy to the League Championship and Capital One Cup. The digital terrestrial channel "will bring coverage from England's second tier back to Italian screens for the first time in four years," and will also be showing the season-ending promotion playoff final (SOCCEREX, 7/23). ... The official app for the Women's British Open is available to download ahead of the event, which will take place at Trump Turnberry Resort, Scotland, from July 30-Aug. 2. The app is available year-round and will be updated with the latest news, live scoring and video highlights throughout the week. It will also provide access to an interactive course guide, social media streams and all other Championship information (Women's British Open). ... The Italian Rugby Federation (FIR) and Italian broadcaster Rai Sport announced that they have reached an agreement to broadcast, live and in HD on Rai Sport 1, both the Pro12 and the Italian domestic competition (Eccellenza). The deal will last for the current season, with an option for the next one. The Pro12 matches will be on Rai Sport 1 HD on Saturday afternoon (Pro12). ... Sky Deutschland shareholders "have approved the transfer of shares from minority stockholders to Sky German Holdings." The minority "squeeze-out," approved during the company's July 22 EGM, means Sky Deutschland "will be fully owned by Sky UK and no longer trade on the German stock exchange market" (TELECOM PAPER, 7/23).
