Media Notes: Portuguese Broadcaster Sport TV Acquires America's Cup

Portuguese broadcaster Sport TV "acquired the broadcast rights to all events in the 35th America’s Cup for Portugal." Under the new deal, Sport TV "will broadcast live racing and highlights from all events," including the America’s Cup World Series in '15 and '16 [beginning this weekend in Portsmouth, U.K.], the America’s Cup Qualifiers and Challenger Playoffs and the America’s Cup Match in June '17 (BERNEWS, 7/21). ... The German Olympic Sports Association (DOSB) and the ProSiebenSat.1 Group agreed to a cooperation in the area of digital live coverage. As part of the deal, ProSiebenSat.1 subsidiary 7NXT acquires a majority stake of around 57% in DOSB New Media. The focus of the cooperation will be digital sports channel Sportdeutschland.tv, which went online in August (DOSB). ... Channel 5 announced that Kelly Cates and George Riley "will headline their new Football League Tonight highlights show this season." The duo "will still continue in their respective roles" for BBC 5 Live and will present the show every Saturday night from 9pm, featuring every goal from all three divisions of the Sky Bet Football League (London DAILY MAIL, 7/22).
