Argentine first division side Quilmes coach JULIO CÉSAR FALCIONI will leave the club, "as the terms of his departure were reportedly agreed upon before his team lost to Boca Juniors on Saturday, and Quilmes' loss left him with no chance" of remaining with the club (INFOBAE, 7/19). ... Scottish Premiership side Heart of Midlothian Owner ANN BUDGE's bid to be elected onto the Scottish Professional Football League board "has failed at the league's AGM." She had "stood to fill one the three spots available to Premiership clubs," with Kilmarnock Chair JIM MANN also putting himself forward. DUNCAN FRASER (Aberdeen), ERIC RILEY (Celtic), STEPHEN THOMPSON (Dundee United) retained their positions to represent top flight clubs (STV, 7/20). ... Former National Rugby League Dir of Strategy & Special Projects SHANE MATTISKE, who negotiated the NRL's five-year, A$1.2B rights deal with Nine, Fox Sports and Telstra, has joined sports marketing firm Repucom as joint managing director with a remit to drive the consulting and strategy side of the business. He spent 15 years with the NRL, including nine years as director of strategy and special projects and nine months as interim CEO before the appointment of DAVE SMITH. He also held the role of head of strategy and investment before leaving the code in '14 to become an independent consultant (MUMBRELLA, 7/20). ... Nigerian football club Kano Pillars sacked coach OKEY EMORDI after a "poor start to the season in the Nigeria Premier League." Kano Governor ABDULLAHI GANDUJE took the decision to dismiss the board and management of the club (ESPN, 7/20). ... The NBA announced that JUAN URO joined the league as exec VP, league finance & global strategy, reporting to NBA Chief Strategic & Financial Officer JASON CAHILLY. Uro will help steer worldwide league finance operations and manage the global financial planning and analysis team -- which supports the NBA's various business units as they define and pursue leaguewide fiscal and strategic goals. He brings more than 15 years of experience in business strategy and financial development. His most recent experience was with McKinsey & Company, where he most recently served as partner in the strategy and corporate finance practice (NBA).
