More than 13 million spectators flocked to the 18 Bundesliga stadiums during the '14-15 season, according to Holger Rehm of SPONSORs. The average attendance of Germany's top flight football league was 42,685, which translates into an occupancy rate of 90.85%. A total of 13,061,532 spectators attended the 306 Bundesliga matches during the previous season. The average attendance increased slightly from 42,609, and as a result the league remained the world's best attended football league. Last season's average was the second highest in the 52-year history of the Bundesliga. Only the '11-12 season had a higher average with 44,293. The 2nd Bundesliga welcomed 5,389,457 spectators to its games during the '14-15 season. The average attendance fell from 17,853 in '13-14 to 17,613 during the '14-15 campaign. The stadium occupancy rate in the second tier was 60.59%. Germany's top two football leagues attracted 18,450,989 specatators to their 612 matches during the '14-15 season.
ON THE TUBE: The German Football League (DFL) has also been satisfied with the Bundesliga TV ratings. German pay-TV network Sky Deutschland recorded a market share of 9.7% for its Saturday afternoon broadcasts. German public broadcaster ARD drew a 24.2% share for its highlights program, Bundesliga "Sportschau." The country's second public broadcaster ZDF obtained an average share of 12.6% for its "das aktuelle Sportstudio" show (SPONSORs, 7/20).
