League Notes: WADA Urges Pan Am Organizers To Store Drug-Test Samples

The World Anti-Doping Agency has "urged organizers of the Pan Am Games and other large multi-sport events to follow the example" of the IOC and "store samples for possible testing in the future." Drug-test samples from Olympic Games are stored for up to 10 years, "meaning that an athlete who cheated may be caught a decade later by new testing technology" (AP, 7/14). ... The recently launched Indian Boxing Council has been offered a membership from the World Boxing Association. The membership is a "significant boost to the body which has initiated its drive across the nation offering boxers, trainers and coaches a chance to make a career in professional boxing" (DECCAN HERALD, 7/14).
