Football Notes: Argentine FA Announces Format Of January-May '16 Season

Transparency Int'l conducted a study of La Liga and Spanish second division clubs' transparency, and gave an average grade of 44.2 out of 100. Real Madrid and Eibar both received scores of 100, while Barcelona is in eighth place, with a score of 62.7. The rest of the top five includes Sevilla (86.7), Deportivo La Coruña (78.3) and Leganés (76.7). The report considers 60 parameters, divided into five areas: information about teams themselves; relationships with members, fans and the general public; economic-financial; signings and supplies and indicators gathered by the Transparency Law (EL PAÍS, 7/14). ... Argentine FA execs on Tuesday received an outline of the schedule for the first season of '16. It will be a "short season that will serve as a link to the beginning of the seasons starting in the middle of the year." The 30 teams will be divided into two zones of 15, and teams will play every other club in their group once, with one "cross-zone" game. It will run from Feb. 7-May 29 (CLARÍN, 7/14). ... Pakistan's Federal Investigation Agency "has launched an investigation into the accounts of the Pakistan Football Federation." Key football officials have been ordered to appear before investigators with account statements and audit reports of the PFF from the period July 1, 2003 to June 30 (INSIDE WORLD FOOTBALL, 7/15).
