Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) President ÁNGEL MARÍA VILLAR "did not announce the departure" of Spanish women's coach IGNACIO QUEREDA on Monday. Although the RFEF's board "considered making public on Monday what all the world considers done -- that Quereda will soon leave his position as coach -- the announcement was not made." All "signs indicate that the decision has already been made" (AS, 7/13). ... Spain's Superior Sports Council (CSD) "is considering sending to the country's District Attorney's office documentation about suspected electoral manipulation" by suspended Spanish Tennis Federation (RFET) President JOSÉ LUIS ESCAÑUELA in '12, which saw him re-elected as RFET president. In July, the CSD received a claim from RFET employees, with documentation, "which led to the opening" of another Spanish Administrative Court for Sport (TAD) investigation (AS, 7/13). ... Brasileiro side Cruzeiro coach VANDERLEI LUXEMBURGO is "facing an issue" with the Wynn Las Vegas Hotel & Casino, which "accuses the coach of having a debt" of $139,000. The Wynn "sought out the Brazilian judicial system in an attempt to settle a debt" from Luxemburgo, who "left a promissory note" in the value of $300,000 to be paid by May 29. However, only $161,000 was paid. The Wynn "hired Brazilian lawyer ANTONIO CELSO DE DOMINICIS NEVES" to continue with its legal action against Luxemburgo (ESPN, 7/13). ... Four-time world super middleweight champion CARL FROCH has "retired from boxing with immediate effect after a 35-fight career" to join Sky Sports as a pundit. The 38-year-old twice won the WBC super middleweight title as well as the WBA and IBF belts, "and retires having won 33 of his 35 fights with 24 coming by knockout" (London INDEPENDENT, 7/14). ... A Grimsby Town supporter was "found guilty on Monday of assaulting a steward with an inflatable shark at an English Conference match." KENNETH MEECH, 50, said that he "took the blow-up toy fish to the fifth tier clash at Barnet in February in support of a fellow fan who had been ejected from an earlier away game for refusing to hand over a large beach ball" (REUTERS, 7/14). ... Australian cricketer JAMES FAULKNER "will miss Australia's tour of England and Ireland" after being charged with drunk driving. The 25-year-old, who is playing for Lancashire, was arrested and bailed on July 2 "and will appear in court in Manchester later this month" (BBC, 7/14).
