RFEF Unanimously Approves Of '14 Profit Of €1.23M; President Villar To Seek Reelection

The Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) on Tuesday unanimously approved of the accounts from the '14 financial year, "with not one vote against," according to the EFE. RFEF Treasurer Juan Luis Larrea revealed the accounts, "which present a very healthy balance" with a profit of €1.23M. The RFEF also presented its budget for the upcoming season, which is set at €120.5M ($132.6M) (EFE, 7/14).

VILLAR TO SEEK REELECTION: In Madrid, Javier Hernandez reported RFEF President Ángel María Villar announced on Tuesday that he will run in the RFEF presidential elections next year. Villar: "As you know, and God willing, next year there will be elections for the presidency of the Spanish Football Federation, and yes, I announce that I will stand. It has come at the request of many people and I will stand" (AS, 7/14). AS reported Spanish Football League (LFP) President Javier Tebas said that he hopes "there is a candidate to go up against and beat" Villar in next year's RFEF presidential elections. Tebas "openly declared his position regarding the possible re-election of Villar, who could regain his position for the seventh time" since becoming president in '88. Tebas: "I hope there is a candidate who can face him and beat him in an election. That's what I hope. I think Spanish football and the Spanish Football Federation deserve another president other than Ángel María Villar. He is free to stand, he is free to say what he wants and I hope there are elections with an alternative to win" (AS, 7/14).
