England & Wales Cricket Board Releases 'Women Smashing Boundaries' Campaign

To promote this summer's Women’s Ashes series, the England & Wales Cricket Board has launched its most significant marketing investment to date in the women's game. The new campaign, called "Smashing Boundaries Together," features members of the England women's team in full kit, and is created to promote both the fixtures and the players. The adverts feature symbols of the evolution of female cricket -- such as white heather representing the Yorkshire "White Heathers," the first ever all-female cricket team. There is also an old-fashioned white pleated skirt cast aside. England women's captain Charlotte Edwards said, "We love that the imagery has captured just how much we enjoy playing together, and how passionate we are about the women's game continuing to move forward." The campaign also references iconic moments in feminism, such as Katherine Brunt's nod to the famous "We Can Do It!" J. Howard Miller wartime propaganda poster associated with female empowerment. There is also a placard paying homage to the suffragettes, which reads "Wickets for Women" (ECB).
