Football Notes: Real Madrid To Earn More Than $21M From Tour Of Australia, China

Real Madrid will earn more than €19M ($20.9M) from its tour of Australia and China. The club will pocket €12M ($13.2M) for taking part in two matches in Melbourne, and in China it will "rake in" €7M ($7.7M) for its participation in two matches (AS, 7/13). ... Spain's Administrative Court for Sport (TAD) upheld its decision to "not accept Elche's petition to be reinstated" in La Liga after the "initial ruling" by the judge working on behalf of the Spanish Football League (LFP) to have the club relegated for financial irregularities. The club will now start the '15-16 season in the Spanish second division. Elche will now take its case to the Spanish civil court (AS, 7/13). ... Several hundred Real Madrid fans chanted for club President Florentino Pérez to resign at an "official send-off" for goalkeeper and captain Iker Casillas at the Santiago Bernabéu stadium on Monday. Real held the presentation "following criticism over the surreal nature of Casillas's tearful news conference on Sunday, when he appeared to be alone in the stadium press room to read out a farewell statement" (REUTERS, 7/13). ... Fighting in the stands "forced the referee to halt a match" at Brasília's Mané Garrincha stadium on Sunday in what was the "latest outbreak of violence inside one of the stadiums used for the 2014 World Cup, local news reports said." The fourth division game between Gama and Botafogo of São Paulo was halted toward the end of the first half when Botafogo fans arrived late, "accompanied by supporters of Gama's arch-rival Brasiliense" (REUTERS, 7/13). ... Three people have been "hospitalised and dozens needed medical treatment after fans rushed to buy tickets" for the UEFA Super Cup match between Barcelona and Sevilla in Georgia. A large crowd of fans "descended on kiosks in the capital Tbilisi as tickets went on sale on Sunday" for the game on Aug. 11. Hundreds of would-be ticket buyers "tried to break through a line of police before special forces personnel wielding riot shields and batons restored order" (AP, 7/12). ... Brazilian military police detained a fan on Sunday for "racial slurs." The fan called a U17 Brasileiro side Corinthians player "monkey" during the club's match against Guaxupé. The athlete "was heard by police in the dressing room" as he told a referee of the problem (ESTADÃO, 7/13).
