FIBA Americas President USIE RICHARDS was elected as a member of the Association of the Pan American Sports Confederations (ACODEPA) exec board for the '15-19 term. Richards adds a new role to a public service career that includes more than 17 years in the field of health administration and planning and 22 years in elected public office as a member of the Virgin Islands Election System and the Virgin Islands Legislature. As a sports enthusiast, he began his involvement in basketball as the public relations officer of the District Association in '78. He became the VP and president of the Virgin Islands National Federation from '78-14 (FIBA). ... JOHN WILLIAMS, who has played a key role in running national amateur golf championships, has accepted the nomination to become president elect of England Golf for '16 with a view to becoming president in '17. Williams has been a referee for the English Golf Union and England Golf for the last 10 years and is a past chairman of the Championship Committee. Williams is also a member of the steering group that guided the merger of the EGU and the English Women's Golf Association to create England Golf (England Golf). ... Johor Crown Prince TUNKU ISMAIL SULTAN IBRAHIM has "stepped down" as the president of the Johor FA. Johor State Secretary DATUK ISMAIL KARIM has been "appointed as his replacement" (STRAITS TIMES, 7/12). ... MAURICIO SORIA will reportedly leave his role as coach of the Bolivian national football team. A source within the Bolivian Football Federation (FBF) said that he "broke his contract when he urged players to ask for a larger bonus than what was agreed upon after reaching the quarterfinals of the Copa América." The FBF exec committee "is expected to meet on Monday to confirm this resolution" (DPA, 7/12).
