Bayern Munich Boss Calls On Bundesliga Rivals To Travel To Strenghen League's Brand

Bayern Munich Exec Chair Karl-Heinz Rummenigge "has called on his Bundesliga rivals to take on more responsibility and to travel to the American and Asian markets which are important for the league's int'l marketing," according to the SID. Rummenigge: "I have the impression that the clubs want more money but are not willing the fully support those measures." He added that he wished "many Bundesliga clubs would travel to China or the U.S. to strengthen the league's brand." Rummenigge: "You have to show presence. It's no surprise that England is way ahead of us. They are going to every corner of the world." Bayern will travel to China for nine days starting on July 16. Rummenigge did not rule out opening an office in China, similar to Bayern's office in N.Y. The Bundesliga clubs will get €154M ($169M) from the league's int'l marketing this year. In '16, the league expects €162M ($178M). The EPL expects revenue of €900M ($990M) form its int'l marketing (SID, 7/9).
