British F1 Grand Prix Draws More Than 4.5 Million Viewers On RTL

German free-to-air TV channel RTL "recorded more than 4.5 million viewers for its broadcast of the British F1 Grand Prix on Sunday," according to David Grzeschik of QUOTENMETER. The race, which started at 2pm, drew 4.66 million viewers. The number translated into a market share of 30.2%. Last year's race from Silverstone was watched by 4.18 million viewers on RTL. In the target demographic 14-49, Lewis Hamilton's home victory obtained a 24.5% share. The race had a peak audience of 4.72 million viewers directly after Hamilton crossed the finish line. The following victory celebration and race highlights attracted 2.37 million viewers. RTL recorded a market share of 15.7%, along with 14.9% in the target demo.

WORLD CUP FINAL: German public broadcaster ZDF drew a 15.8% market share for its broadcast of the FIFA Women's World Cup final between the U.S. and Japan. A total of 730,000 viewers tuned in to watch the game starting at 1am. The pregame coverage obtained a 13% share as 650,000 tuned in starting at 12:45am (QUOTENMETER, 7/6).

TOUR DE FRANCE: DWDL's Alexander Krei reported German public broadcaster ARD recorded satisfying ratings for its Tour de France coverage over the weekend. On Saturday, ARD attracted around 1.3 million viewers for its broadcast of the opening time trial. The number translated into a 10.5% share. Sunday's second stage from Utrecht to Zelande obtained an 8.8% share as 1.33 million viewers tuned in. In the target demographic, the second stage drew a 4.8% share. Pan-European broadcaster ARD, which also aired the cycling race, recorded an average of 180,000 viewers on Sunday. The market shares were 1.2% and 0.8% in the target demo (DWDL, 7/6).

COPA AMERICA: beIN Sports recorded more than 1.5 million viewers for the Argentina vs. Chile broadcast in the U.S. The Copa América final, which aired on Saturday, scored an average of 1 million viewers on beIN Sports en Espanol. More than 464,000 viewers tuned in on the beIN Sports English channel (beIN Sports).
