Bayern Munich Plans To Stage Outdoor Game Against NBA Team At Allianz Arena

Bayern Munich "is planning the largest basketball game in the history of Germany," according to BILD AM SONNTAG. The club "wants to stage an outdoor game at the Allianz Arena in front of 70,000 spectators." Bayern Munich Basketball GM Marko Pesic "dreams of an NBA opponent." Pesic: "I've already talked to the NBA about it because it hasn't happened before." To make it happen, the club would have to cover the stadium's grass field with a court and baskets. However, there is one problem that still needs to be worked on. Pesic: "When the outside temperature rises, moisture forms on the court. It is helpful for football -- but due to the injury risk impossible for us. We are looking for a solution." The Basketball Bundesliga club is also trying to set up a U.S. tour to play exhibition games against NBA franchises. Pesic: "This could be a viable topic for next year. There has been an exchange with the Oklahoma City Thunder for some time, they would like to play against us. Now we would only need a second opponent" (BILD AM SONNTAG, 7/6).
