More Than 5 Million Viewers Watch Women's World Cup Third-Place Match

German public broadcaster ARD "recorded more than 5 million viewers for its broadcast of the Women's World Cup third-place game between Germany and England," according to Manuel Nunez Sanchez of QUOTENMETER. The game, which started at 10pm, attracted an average of 5.39 million viewers. The number translated into a market share of 30.1%. In the target demographic 14-49, Germany's 1-0 loss in extra time obtained a 16.8% share as 1.05 million viewers tuned in. Prior to the Women's World Cup match, ARD showed the charity game between Borussia Dortmund and a selection of Deutsche Sportfhilfe (German Sports Aid Foundation). The game drew 1.06 million viewers, including 210,000 in the target demo. ARD recorded a market share of 8.9% starting at 2:40pm. In the target demo, the charity game had a 5.5% share. Following the game, ARD attracted 1.3 million viewers for its broadcast of the Tour de France. The public broadcaster obtained a market share of 10.5%, along with 5.8% in the target demo starting at 4:25pm (QUOTENMETER, 7/5).
