Bangkok Media And Broadcasting To Show English Premier League In Thailand

Bangkok Media & Broadcasting, the operator behind the PPTV HD TV channel, "has agreed a deal to show" Premier League matches in Thailand, according to Ian Ferris of TRIBAL FOOTBALL. Pay-TV operator Cable Thai Holding "holds the full broadcast rights to the Premier League in Thailand, but typically negotiates limited free-to-air deals with other broadcasters." Twenty-six games from English football's top division "will now be shown on the free-to-air PPTV channel" in the '15-16 season. Financial details "have not been officially announced," but are thought to be in the region of THB200M ($5M) (TRIBAL FOOTBALL, 6/28).

IN CANADA
: ADVANCED TELEVISION reported sports fans in the U.K. and Ireland "have the opportunity to watch" Canadian Football League action live on TV. Sports broadcaster BT Sport’s channels BT Sport 2 and ESPN on BT Sport "will broadcast CFL games live starting with the season opener between the Ottawa Redblacks and Montreal Alouettes" last Thursday. BT Sport "will also broadcast CFL games on delay" (ADVANCED TELEVISION, 6/25).

PULLING THE PLUG: STUFF's David Long wrote tennis fans in New Zealand "will need to power up their computers or fumble for the remote control over the next fortnight when watching Wimbledon." TVNZ "will cut transmission of the Grand Slam at 6am every day on TV One, regardless of the situation in a match and will instead broadcast their usual Breakfast TV show." Viewers "will then have to watch the rest of the day's play by going to TVNZ OnDemand or to a pop-up channel on Freeview TV" (STUFF, 6/28).
