Rio 2016, State Government Partner To Fill 85,000 Labor Positions During Olympics

The Rio 2016 organizing committee and the Rio de Janeiro state government agreed to a partnership that will see the 85,000 labor and service positions for the Olympics and Paralympics filled. Rio de Janeiro Governor Luiz Fernando Pezão and Rio 2016 President Carlos Arthur Nuzman attended an event on Wednesday that closed the deal. The partnership will see around 30 companies, which are already providing services for the Rio Olympics, select Technical Schooling Support Foundation (FAETEC) students from a variety of programs, including bartending, hospitality and culinary arts, to prepare for and work during the Games. In addition to lending labor support for the Games, the partnership also has the objective of raising youth employment and job qualification. Nuzman said, "This partnership is an important step in labor capacity, and not just for the Games. The agreement will leave as a legacy an elevation of quality on the delivery of services for the entire state [of Rio de Janeiro]" (Rio 2016).
