Event Notes: Landslide Forces Tour De France To Change Route

The route for the penultimate stage of this year's Tour de France "has been changed because of a landslide." The Col du Galibier climb has been removed from the Tour, which begins on July 4 in Utrecht, Netherlands. The 20th stage will still begin in Modane and end with the famous climb of Alpe d'Huez, "but will now divert over the Col de la Croix-de-Fer" (BBC, 6/25). ... Korea University Sports Board President You Byong-jin said that the South Korean delegation to the upcoming Summer Universiade "on home soil" has set up safety measures to fight Middle East Respiratory Syndrome. He said that "a physician with expertise in MERS will join the delegation and will be charged with looking after the country's 382 athletes and 134 officials" (YONHAP, 6/25).
