Spanish Judge Orders Rojadirecta To Shut Down Football Streaming

Following requests from Mediapro and Gol TV, a Madrid court has ordered Spanish sports streaming site Rojadirecta to "suspend the streaming of football games immediately," according to MARCA. Spanish Football League (LFP) Strategic Projects Dir Ignacio Martínez Trujillo announced the news on Monday, saying, "We have huge news. ... The LFP has been working intensely for a year against piracy and today we have won the first big battle. ... We are a country capable of creating value and we will continue creating it within the framework that our fans demand from us." If Rojadirecta does not follow the orders within seven days, the judge "will order all Spanish Internet providers to block access to the website" (MARCA, 6/22).
