Allianz Stadium To Host Wallabies, England Test Rugby Match

Buoyed by the response to the French Test last year, the Wallabies will "take a blockbuster England clash to Allianz Stadium" in '16, according to Payten & Pandaram of the Sydney DAILY TELEGRAPH. The Australian Rugby Union is to "announce the schedule on Friday for the Test series in June next year against the old enemy." The media call is in Melbourne, with one of the Tests to be "moved from the usual Etihad Stadium to the rectangular AAMI Park." But the move to a smaller arena will also happen in Sydney, with the ARU to "overlook ANZ Stadium and stage a Test against England at Allianz Stadium." It is not "known whether the England clash will be a day fixture as well," but TV considerations could be a reason why it will not be. U.K. fans could "watch a night game here over breakfast, and ratings for Tests are also lower in Australia" (DAILY TELEGRAPH, 6/18).
