Hamburg To Spend Up To $17M On 2024 Olympic Games Bid

Hamburg, Germany will spend a maximum of €15M ($17M) for its 2024 Olympics bid, according to the SID. Hamburg Interior Senator Michael Neumann "made the announcement on Tuesday." The majority of the €50M ($56M) bid budget "will come from the federal government, which has already guaranteed" €30M ($34M). In addition, Germany's private sector economy "will financially support the bid." Neumann said that Hamburg's "final bill depends on the private sector support." He said that Hamburg might "only pay" €5M ($5.6M) or €6M ($6.7M) in the end. The Hamburg Senate "also confirmed Nov. 29 as the date for the public referendum." The referendum's preparation and execution costs will be $4.8M ($5.4M) (SID, 6/16).
