Deadline To Buy Italian Football Club Parma Extended

The deadline to buy Italian club Parma has been extended to "allow more time for two interested groups to seal a deal," according to FOOTBALL ITALIA. There have been two declarations of interest in the club, with a sporting debt of more than €20M ($22.6M) needing to be paid by the end of the month to avoid the Ducali dropping to Serie D. A statement on the club's website said, "The extension was granted to allow to formulate their offer for the club Parma FC, as a result of negotiations which have occurred and information acquired." Cinema magnate Giuseppe Corrado and former MLB player Mike Piazza "are believed to be the two parties in talks to save the stricken club" (FOOTBALL ITALIA, 6/15).
