More Than 9 Million Viewers Tune In To Watch Euro 2016 Qualifier On RTL

German free-to-air TV channel RTL "recorded more than 9 million viewers for its broadcast of the Euro 2016 qualifier between Germany and Gibraltar," according to Robert Meyer of QUOTENMETER. The first half of the game attracted 7.6 million viewers on Saturday evening. The number translated into a market share of 30.1%. In the target demographic 14-49, the first 45 minutes obtained a 32.9% share as 2.61 million viewers tuned in. The viewership increased to 9.51 million viewers during the second half of the game. The result was a 38.2% market share. In the target demo, Germany's 7-0 victory had a 38.6% share as 3.27 million viewers tuned in to watch the second half of the game (QUOTENMETER, 6/14).

WOMEN'S WORLD CUP
: QUOTENMETER's Kevin Kyburz reported more than 7 million watched the second group stage game of the German team on Thursday. German public broadcaster ARD obtained a 33.9% share as 7.09 million tuned in starting at 10pm. In the target demographic 14-49, the 1-1 draw against Norway attracted 1.77 million viewers and had a 23.3% market share (QUOTENMETER, 6/12).

IN SPAIN: In Madrid, Jorge Fernández Maldonado reported Spain's national team's friendly against Costa Rica on Thursday drew an audience of 3.94 million viewers, which translated to a market share of 21.4%, on Telecinco. La Roja's 2-1 victory attracted the third-lowest number of viewers in the 192 friendlies it has played since '92. When Spain won Euro 2012, "it marked an inflection point for viewership." Of the 11 lowest-rated friendlies the team has played since '92, 10 have been played after Euro 2012 (AS, 6/14).
