One Year After Kicking Off The World Cup, Arena Corinthians' Construction Incomplete

One year after the 2014 World Cup kickoff, São Paulo's Arena Corinthians is still under a "management crisis" as many areas of the stadium are incomplete, according to Favero & Ramos of ESTADÃO. The eighth floor of the stadium's west building, which was built to be "more luxurious," is still "closed for renovations." The initial idea for the space was to create a "shopping center and, thus, generating a lot of revenue" for Brasileiro side Corinthians. However, the plan "never left the drawing board." The "luxury" of escalators and bathrooms with marble floors and TVs at its sinks "very much contrasts with a lot of dust, scaffolding, bags of cement and exposed pipes." Brazilian construction company Odebrecht, which built the stadium, "promised" that it "would be ready in January." Odebrecht then "pushed the date to May." Now, there is no "telling when the stadium will be 100% completed" (ESTADÃO, 6/12).
