Event Notes: Russia Deputy Transport Minister Puts Plan Into Gear

Russia Deputy Transport Minister Nikolay Asaul said that Russia is "forging ahead with its transport infrastructure build whether there is a crisis within FIFA or not." Asaul: "Football has no impact on our technical preparations. We are fully in line with the schedule we have prepared. There is a single integrated masterplan to develop our infrastructure. The political storm has no impact on our transport operations" (INSIDE WORLD FOOTBALL, 6/12). ... InfrontRingier Sports & Entertainment Switzerland is set to launch this year's Tour de Suisse -- acting as the new event organizer and marketing partner as part of a major partnership with Swiss Cycling. This year's Tour de Suisse is the first time that InfrontRingier will handle full event operations. Approximately 300 people will be working on the ground across the nine stages of the event to ensure its success and appeal to an anticipated 1 million spectators, as well as to TV viewers in approximately 110 countries and territories (Infront). ... The 2015 Race Of Champions will take place Nov. 20-21 at the Stadium at Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, the home of the 2012 Olympics. The former Olympic Stadium will now stage its fastest ever race after it saw off contenders from all over the world to host the event. The Race Of Champions is an annual end-of-season contest that has been held for more than 25 years. It brings together drivers from motor sport's major disciplines -- including F1, World Rally, Le Mans, MotoGP, Nascar, IndyCar and the X-Games -- and has them compete in identical machinery (Race of Champions).
