England cricketer MATT PRIOR has "announced his retirement from all forms of cricket. The 33-year-old, who won 79 Test caps, "helped England to three Ashes series victories" between '09 and '13. The Sussex keeper has not played any cricket since July '14 because of a recurring Achilles tendon injury (BBC, 6/11). ... A British court has banned Chelsea Manager JOSÉ MOURINHO from driving for six months after he was caught speeding. The Portuguese coach "pleaded guilty to the offense but was not at the hearing." Mourinho was ordered to pay £910 ($1,406) in fines and court costs because of the incident in September (AP, 6/11). ... The Int'l Cycling Union (UCI) has "no concerns" over the equipment used by BRADLEY WIGGINS in his successful UCI Hour Record attempt on Sunday. STEVE COLLINS, a coach who helped ALEX DOWSETT set the record on May 2, "claimed Wiggins' bike was not commercially available and therefore against regulations." The UCI said in a statement, "Bradley Wiggins' bike and equipment were thoroughly assessed by UCI officials before and after the UCI Hour Record attempt and were judged to be fully compliant with UCI regulations" (London DAILY MAIL, 6/9). ... A memorial service is to be held at Ibrox for former Scottish Championship side Rangers player COLIN JACKSON, who died aged 68. Jackson's family said that the funeral will be a private service for family only; however, the club has "arranged a memorial service" for June 20. Jackson passed away on Saturday June 6 after a "battle" with leukemia (STV, 6/11). ... The K-League said that Jeju United player KANG SOO-IL had the anabolic steroid methyltestosterone in his system after a test by the Korea Anti-Doping Agency. Kang, 27, was in Kuala Lumpur with the South Korea national team. The KFA said that “uncapped Kang would return home on Friday” (REUTERS, 6/11).
