Man City Manager Manuel Pellegrini To Stay With Club Despite Trophyless Season

Man City Chair Khaldoon Al Mubarak said that Manuel Pellegrini will stay on as Man City manager and lead a "huge" transfer window as the team undergoes "a revamp after a disappointing season," according to Mike Keegan of the London DAILY MAIL. The Chilean's future "had been subject to speculation" after the club failed to defend its Premier League title and lift any silverware. But following an end-of-season review Pellegrini "has been told he will be asked to see out the final year of his contract -- and given assurances he will be given the funds he needs to go for some of the best players in the world." Al Mubarak said, "Every year we look back and conduct a review. We discuss the pros, cons, what needs to be improved. We have done that already this year." Al Mubarak "added that transfer targets had already been identified." He said, "Manuel has a clear view of where he wants to go this summer, what he needs to do, what and we need to do as an organization" (DAILY MAIL, 6/10).
