Pacaembu Stadium In São Paulo To Receive New Football Walk Of Fame

To celebrate the 75th anniversary of São Paulo's Pacaembu stadium, Foot Fame, which creates footballers' footprints monuments, historical society Ama Brasil and the São Paulo municipal secretary of sports, leisure & youth "united to create" a football "walk of fame" at the stadium, according to ESPN. Foot Fame Dir Ângelo Neto said, "The intention of the new partnership is to revitalize the walk of fame at the Pacaembu stadium. ... In addition, it will include the footprints of [former footballer] Roberto Rivellino and the king Pelé, initially, as they are athletes who have history at the stadium." Along with the walkway, the outside of the field "will also receive footprints from athletes, coaches and press who are important to the history" of the sport in Brazil. Neto: "Initially, we will reform the walk of fame that already exists [at the stadium]. ... The goal is to have 150 people." The project will be a "100% privatized investment" (ESPN, 6/11).
