FIFA: Global Media Reactions To Resignation Of President Sepp Blatter

FIFA President Sepp Blatter "has stepped down" and the world's media "have been scathing in their coverage," according to the London TELEGRAPH.

Bild (Germany)
France's daily sports newspaper L'Equipe went "straight for the jugular" with their "Accule" ("Cornered") front page and included the now infamous image of the outgoing president being shown the door.

Spanish daily sports paper Marca was equally blunt but less suggestive in its "Blatter Se Rinde" ("Blatter Gives Up") splash.

El Grafico, a monthly Argentine sports magazine, is more sympathetic toward Blatter and FIFA with its respectful "A Llorar A La FIFA" front page, meaning simply "FIFA Is In Mourning."

The English tabloid press opted for the "Blatt's All Folks" signoff while the Mirror "cleverly" went for "End Of An Error."

Vive Charlie, the satirical magazine set up following the horrific and tragic attacks on the Charlie Hebdo office, has created "this little beauty."

(TELEGRAPH, 6/3).
Kleine Zeitung (Austria)
SBD Global also looked for media reactions from around the world. Here are our favorites:

DeMorgen (Belgium)
Germany's daily tabloid Bild went with "Blatter Haut Ab!" or "Blatter Scrams!"

DeMorgen, a daily paper in Brussels, Belgium, put "Exit Blatter: FIFA Baas Houdt Eer Aan Ziehzelf" on its page one, simply meaning "Exit Blatter: FIFA Boss Likes To Honor Himself."

Austria's Kleine Zeitung provided a reason for Blatter's resignation, "Der Druck War Zu Groß" ("The Pressure Was Too High.")

French paper 20 Minutes kept it tasteful with "Au Revoir President!" ("Goodbye President.")

Basler Zeitung, a daily paper in Switzerland used the same headline as Spain's Marca: "Sepp Blatter Gibt Auf" ("Sepp Blatter Gives Up") (SBD Global).
