Hamburg To Unveil Stadium Plans For 2024 Summer Olympics Bid

The dream of the 2024 Olympic Games "taking place in Hamburg takes shape," according to Alexander Holzapfel of BILD. Bid officials will unveil the first rendering of the "Masterplan Kleiner Grasbrook" on Tuesday at 7pm local time. The idea: an asymmetric stadium with distinctively different stand heights. The variation in heights provides an "unprecedented" view of the city skyline from the main grandstand. However, as a result a large number of spectators "will not have a roof over their heads." After potentially hosting the Olympics the stadium "could be turned into apartments, while the field remains a place for sport activities" (BILD, 6/1).
