Executive Transactions

Second Bundesliga club FC St. Pauli has appointed ANDREAS RETTIG "as its new commercial managing director." The 52-year-old "will take over his new position on Sept. 1," replacing MICHAEL MEESKE who "will leave the club for league rival FC Nuremberg." Rettig previously worked for the German Football League (DFL) as its COO (HAMBURGER ABENDBLATT, 5/29). ... SportAccord President MARIUS VIZER resigned from his position and "delivered a defiant rebuke to the critics who forced him out after his attacks on the IOC. Vizer "defended his position" and said that he was the one who "had the 'courage' to speak out as head of SportAccord, which represents Olympic and non-Olympic federations" (AP, 5/31).
