Tinkler Must Raise $395,700 Or Newcastle Jets' A-League License Will Be Revoked

Nathan Tinkler "will have to find" more than A$500,000 ($395,700) by Wednesday or risk having his license to own A-League side Newcastle Jets revoked, according to Robert Dillon of the SYDNEY MORNING HERALD. Football Federation Australia gave a "formal notice on Tuesday afternoon, advising Tinkler he had 24 hours to meet his obligations." Jets players and staff "are still waiting for their monthly wages, which were supposed to be paid on Friday." In addition, past and present Jets employees are owed a reported A$400,000 ($316,700) in superannuation that is up to three years overdue, and Newcastle University Sport is owed A$40,000 ($31,670) "in unpaid hiring fees for the Jets' training facilities." It is understood FFA "has demanded that all those liabilities be settled by Wednesday's deadline," which would cost Tinkler between A$500,000 and A$1M ($791,600). If he cannot comply, FFA "is poised to oust him as owner" (SMH, 5/19).
