FIBA Takes Euroleague To Court Demanding Nearly €1M For Advertising Rights

FIBA will take legal measures against the Euroleague to "demand a quantity" of nearly €1M ($1.13M) that it says it is owed, according to Julián Felipo of MUNDO DEPORTIVO. This sum, from the last two seasons, "is established in the agreement between FIBA and the Euroleague regarding advertising rights for the competition." FIBA said that the Euroleague agreed to pay €100,000 ($113,400) each trimester to FIBA for the operating license. Since '12, "these have not been paid, which has further aggravated the conflict between the parties, which has to do with the fight for control of the Eurocup." At a meeting of FIBA Europe's board, it was also decided that the "reorganizing of competitions will continue, with confirmation of the decision to reduce the number of annual championships from three to two" (MUNDO DEPORTIVO, 5/18).
